Application of ditch covers in underground tunnels of coal mines

During the production process of coal mines, a large amount of groundwater will be generated. The groundwater flows into the water tank through the ditch set on one side of the tunnel, and then is discharged to the ground by a multi-stage pump. Due to the limited space of the underground tunnel, a cover is usually added above the ditch as a sidewalk for people to walk on it.

The ditch covers commonly used in China are now cement products. This type of cover has obvious disadvantages such as easy breakage, which poses a serious threat to the safe production of coal mines. Due to the effect of ground pressure, the ditch and ditch cover are often subjected to huge pressure. Because the cement cover has poor plasticity and no plastic deformation ability, it often breaks and loses its function immediately when it is subjected to ground pressure, posing a serious threat to the safety of people walking on it and losing the ability to be reused. Therefore, it needs to be replaced frequently, the cost of use is high, and it puts pressure on the production of mines. The cement cover is heavy and very difficult to install and replace when damaged, which increases the burden on the staff and causes a huge waste of manpower and material resources. Because the broken cement cover falls into the ditch, the ditch needs to be cleaned frequently.
Development of ditch cover
In order to overcome the defects of cement cover, ensure the safety of personnel walking, reduce production costs, and free employees from heavy physical labor, the coal mine machine repair plant organized technicians to design a new type of ditch cover based on a lot of practice. The new ditch cover is made of 5mm thick lentil-shaped patterned steel plate. In order to increase the strength of the cover, a reinforcing rib is provided under the cover. The reinforcing rib is made of 30x30x3mm equilateral angle steel, which is intermittently welded on the patterned steel plate. After welding, the cover is galvanized as a whole for rust and corrosion prevention. Due to the different sizes of underground ditches, the specific processing size of the ditch cover should be processed according to the actual size of the ditch.

Strength test of ditch cover
Since the ditch cover plays the role of a pedestrian passage, it must be able to carry enough load and have a sufficient safety factor. The width of the ditch cover is generally about 600mm, and it can only carry one person when walking. In order to increase the safety factor, we place a heavy object of 3 times the mass of the human body on the ditch cover when doing static tests. The test shows that the cover is completely normal without any bending or deformation, indicating that the strength of the new cover is fully applicable to the pedestrian passage.

According to calculations, a new ditch cover weighs about 20ka, which is about half of the cement cover. It is light and very easy to install. 2. Good safety and durability. Since the new ditch cover is made of patterned steel plate, it is not only strong, but also will not be damaged by brittle fracture and is durable.
3. Can be reused
Since the new ditch cover is made of steel plate, it has a certain plastic deformation capacity and will not be damaged during transportation. Even if plastic deformation occurs, it can be reused after the deformation is restored. Because the new ditch cover has the above advantages, it has been widely promoted and applied in coal mines. According to the statistics of the use of new ditch covers in coal mines, the use of new ditch covers has greatly improved the production, installation, cost and safety, and is worthy of promotion and application.
